Abstract of the Topic

Measurement in Software engineering is still not matured. One can easily find thousands of software measures/metrics in the literature, however, most of them are not used in common practice. Also for evaluating these measures several proposals are available in literature, but they are not effective to control the quality of the proposed measures. Academicians and practitioners are continuously working on standardizing the measurement techniques in this area. This talk presents the state of art in area of software measurements and measurement techniques.  This paper also discusses the technical issues and challenges which are barrier in the process of standardization for software measurements. 

Biography

Sanjay Misra obtained M.Tech. Degree in Software Engineering from Motilal Nehru National Natioanal Institue of Technology, Allahabad India and D.Phil. from University of Allahabad, India. Presently he is Professor and Head in Department of Computer Engineering, School of Communication and Information Technology, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria. He is a software engineer and previously held academic positions at Atilim University, Turkey, Subharati University, and UP Technical University India. His current researches cover the areas of:  Software quality, software measurement, software metrics, software process improvement, software project management, object oriented technologies, XML, SOA, Web Services, and cognitive informatics. He published more than 60 papers in these areas. He chaired several international workshops (Software Engineering Process and Applications 2009 and 2010 (Springer), Tools and Techniques in Software Development Process 2009, 2010, (IEEE), Software Quality 2009 (IEEE), and Software Metrics and Measurement 2009(IEEE))   in area of Software Engineering. Presently, he is chief editor of “International Journal of Computer Science and Software Technology” (IJCSST) and serving as editorial board member of several journals of international repute.
